No, this is not about all the reasons I serve. This is about why it is important to wear a uniform in combat. Read more »

Joe McGuinness Has An Album You Should Buy

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on May 9, 2008 by Rich

I’ve restarted this post three times now, trying to describe Joe and his music to you, and there is just no way to describe him or his music with words.  Do yourself a favor, and pull up his myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/Joemcguinness

Listen to the songs on there, and then buy the album.  If you don’t like it, I’ll buy it from you.  I’m not worried, though.  You are going to love it.

By the way, I’m getting really interested in cigar box guitars.  Google it some time and check it out.  I saw a guy named Richard Johnston playing one at the Beale Street Music Festival last weekend, and if I hadn’t seen it myself, I would never have believed how much music can come out of a cigar box, a broom handle, and some cheap hardware from Radio Shack.  Check out Richard Johnston at:

That’s all for now.  Sorry I have been gone a while, I had Annual Training a couple of weeks ago, and I’m just now getting work caught up.  Let me know what you think of Joe McGuinness and Richard Johnston.  Especially Joe.  And do like he requests: Support Local Music.  That’s all for now.

My First Look At IDPA

Posted in Uncategorized on April 5, 2008 by Rich

IDPA stands for International Defensive Pistol Association.  You should Google it, and better yet Youtube it and watch videos.  It looks like everything IPSC was before you had to be a millionaire to shoot, and more.

It is late, I have to go to bed.  I’ll edit this tomorrow some time.  I had a good time today watching, and if I can work out the work schedule, I’m going to start shooting.

Note From Rich on 8 April:  I never got around to adding to this, because I didn’t shoot that day.  I plan to next month, so if you care about IDPA or handgun games in general, you might like to check in then.  I’ll tell you all I can about how it went.

On Feathers and Dinosaurs

Posted in History, Religion, Uncategorized with tags , , , on February 23, 2008 by Rich

While I’m on a roll tonight, let me just get this off of my chest also: if it has feathers, it is a bird.  So if you read anything about some new, four-winged dinosaur called a microraptor, or some such nonsense, remember that the deliniating fact that separates birds from dinosaurs (which are all reptiles, I believe) is that birds have feathers.

If it has feathers, it is a bird.  Even if the skeleton is similar to that of a lizard.

Oh, and by the way, this remarkable fossil was found in China.  There is a whole underground industry there for faked fossils.  If you are interested in this kind of stuff, particularly if you are interested in reading some sound, scientific information about the whole creation vs. evolution debate from a christian point of view check out www.answersingenesis.com .   Bring your thinking cap though.  This isn’t your average, sunday school, Noah’s Ark, felt board source of information.  Real scientists and real science.

That’s all for now.

The following assumes that the reader is a licensed handgun carrier, and is my opinion only.  My strong opinion, but only my opinion none the less. Read more »
